I had a breakdown on the Grand Union which turned out to be a clogged fuel filter. After fixing that I found there was also a water leak which left me stranded in one spot for 2 weeks waiting for parts. After discovering John, everything went smoothly. He came down on a Sunday evening to diagnose the problem, then again on Tuesday evening with the necessary parts. It’s all fixed and ready to go now and I couldn’t be happier with John’s work. Would definitely use him again. Have only the highest praise for his work.

Thoughts On Narrowboating
Had a catastrophic failure of my water pump associated with my Isuzu engine, it had completely corroded. Initially I contacted another company, who were quite prepared to complete the repairs which included ordering the part … the part was over £600 (without fitting) contacted John and he was able to order a part for a fraction of the cost and easily saved me …£500 … The other company would have made a tidy packet …

I had some work done on my boat by John what a legend, had a replacement starter motor done, a replacement of the gauge pod, and a full wiring job — and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
The boat was back to her tug tug tug 🫶🏻
From start to finish, the work was handled professionally and efficiently. The starter motor issue was diagnosed quickly and fixed properly, and it’s now running smoothly. The new gauge pod looks great and is much clearer and more reliable than before, which makes a big difference when out.
The full wiring job was the standout part for me. Everything has been neatly installed, properly organised, and clearly done with attention to detail. It’s reassuring to know the electrical system is now safe, tidy, and built to last. John cleaned up and even locked my boat after couldn’t have asked for more.
Communication throughout was excellent, with everything explained clearly and no surprises along the way. Overall, a top-quality job and I’d definitely recommend his services to anyone needing marine electrical or mechanical work.
